But the pearl of these tombs and shrines to the Egyptians is Maqam Ra’s Al-Hussain bin Ali bin Abi Talib (A.S) located in the mosque of the same name in Al-Hussain neighborhood in the old part of Cairo. This Mosque was built in 549 AH during the Fatimid era and under the supervision of Saleh, the famous Fatimid minister. This Mosque has 3 doors made of white marble and overlooks “Khan Al-Khalili” and another door is located next to the dome of the mosque which is known as “Babal-Akhdar”.
Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (Arabic: أبو عبد الله الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب; 10 January 626 – 10 October 680) was a grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and a son of Ali ibn Abi Talib and Muhammad's daughter Fatima, as well as a younger brother of Hasan ibn Ali.[9] He is the third Imam of Shia Islam after his brother, Hasan, and before his son, Ali ibn Husayn Zayn al-Abidin. Being a grandson of the prophet, he is a member of the Ahl al-Bayt. He is also considered to be a member of the Ahl al-Kisa, and a participant in the event of Mubahala. Muhammad described him and his brother, Hasan, as "the leaders of the youth of Paradise."[10][11]

The al-Hussein Mosque[1][2] or al-Husayn Mosque,[3][4] also known as the Mosque of al-Imam al-Husayn[4] (Arabic: مسجد الإمام ٱلحُسين) and the Mosque of Sayyidna al-Husayn,[5][6] is a mosque and mausoleum of Husayn ibn Ali, originally built in 1154, and then later reconstructed in 1874.[7] The mosque is located in Cairo, Egypt, near the Khan El-Khalili bazaar, near-by the famous Al Azhar Mosque, in an area known as Al-Hussain.[7] It is considered to be one of the holiest Islamic sites in Egypt.[4] Some Shia Muslims believe that Husayn's head (ra's mubarak) is buried on the grounds of the mosque where a mausoleum is located today and considered to be what is left of the Fatimid architecture in the building.[4

Sayyida Nafisa Mosque in Cairo is built over the tomb of Sayyida Nafisa. She was the great granddaughter of the Prophet Mohamed (PBUH), daughter of al-Hasan al-Anwar, the son of Zaid bin Hassan bin Imam Ali (A.S.). Nafisa moved to Cairo from Medina (Hejaz in the past, now Saudi Arabia) in 809 AD and died in Cairo in 824 AD. She married to Ishaq al-Mutamin, son of the sixth Shia Imam Jafar al-Sadiq.
It is said that this holy lady dug her own grave because she knew her time was getting nearer. Every day she would enter the grave and worship in it. She was not only known for her abstinence and piety but also for religious teachings. Imam al-Shafi was also one of her students (he is buried in Cairo too). This holy lady provided education for the young girls and women alike in her era.

Most historians believe that she was buried in Damascus (Syria) but according to the Fatimid rulers of Egypt, in her last days she lived and passed away in Cairo. According to her will she was buried in the same place where she had lived for about eleven months in al-Fustat (Old Cairo).

6) The towering dome of al-Imam al-Shafi‘i, founder of the Shafi‘i school of jurisprudence, is one of Cairo’s most important religious and architectural landmarks. At al-Shafi’i’s mausoleum, the boat is perceived to symbolize al-Shafi‘i himself who was known as bahr al-‘ulum (sea of knowledge). In a peculiar myth, the Seljuk Vizier Nizam al-Mulk is said to have requested the remains of al-Shafi‘i to be moved to his madrasa in Baghdad (built 1067 C.E.). Despite the people’s anger and protests, the Caliph agreed and the vizier Badr al-Jamali ordered his grave to be dug up. However, an intoxicating perfume miraculously rose from the grave and knocked out those present. The exhumation was abandoned and visitation of al-Shafi'i intensified, lasting for forty days and nights.

millions of Sufis gathered for the largest celebration of the birthday of Sayed El Badawi, the most famous Egyptian Saint. He actually was born in Morocco, but settled in a farming town known as Tanta, 60 miles north of Cairo, back in the 13th century.

Aḥmad al-Badawī (Arabic: أحمد البدوى IPA: [ˈæħmæd elˈbædæwi]), also known as Al-Sayyid al-Badawī (السيد البدوى, [esˈsæjjed-, elˈsæjjed-]), or as al-Badawī for short, or reverentially as Shaykh al-Badawī by Sunni Muslims who venerate saints,[3] was a 13th-century Arab[3] Sufi Muslim mystic who became famous as the founder of the Badawiyyah order of Sufism. Born in Fes, Morocco to a Bedouin tribe originally from the Syrian Desert,[3][4] al-Badawi eventually settled for good in Tanta, Egypt in 1236, whence he developed a posthumous reputation as "One of the greatest saints in the Arab world"[5][3] As al-Badawi is perhaps "the most popular of Muslim saints in Egypt", his tomb has remained a "major site of visitation" for Muslims in the region.[6]
